The Main Ethiopian Title for God – Egziabhier እግዚአብሔር.

Generally, throughout the Ge’ez Bible God is called with His main title of authority: EGZIABHIER እግዚአብሔር.
“Egziabhier” is composed of 7 Letters and 3 Words.
The 7 letters are the 7 spirits of God, as it is written in Revelation (4,5): “And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.” They are also the seven days of the Creation above which He is Lord.
The 3 Words are the 3 persons of the Trinity:
Egzie እግዚእ —- Lord —- The Son
Ab አብ —- Father —- The Father
Bhier ብሔር —- Province —- The Holy Spirit
Therefore, we have a special extension of the title of “Lord” (Egzie) into “Lord Father of The Province”, i.e. the Supreme Authority over Creation.

Ethiopian Wise Kidane Welde Keflie Ge’ez-Amharic Dictionary – 1955

From a very important Ge’ez-Amharic dictionary, printed under the imperial government in Ethiopia, in 1955, and written by Aleqa Kidane Weld Keflie. At the beginning of the book we find the picture of the King with a short Ge’ez composition:
ቀዳማዊ፡ሐፄ፡ኀይለ፡ሥላሴ፡
ንጉሠ፡ነገሥት፡ዘኢትዮጵያ፡
ኢይፈቅድ፡ይንግርዎ፡
ግእዞ፡ለሰብእ፡ግእዝ፡
እስመ፡ለሊሁ፡የአምሮ።
Qedamawi Hadziè Hayle Selassie
N(e)guse Negest ZeItyoppya
Iyfeq(e)d Yn(e)g(e)rwo
G(e)(e)zo LeSeb(e) G(e)(e)z
(E)sme Lelihu Yeamro ::
His Majesty Qedamawi Hayle Selassie
King of Kings of Ethiopia
Doesn’t want that one would tell Him
the Coscience of Men Ge’ez
For He Himself knows it ::
It is a literal adaptation from the Ge’ez Bible, from the Gospel of John 2:25 speaking about Christ:
ኢይፈቅድ፡ይንግርዎ፡ግዕዞ፡ለሰብእ፡እስመ፡ለሊሁ፡ያአምሮ፡ለሰብእ።
Iyfeqd Yngrwo G(e)(e)’zo LeSeb(e) (E)sme Lelihu Yaamro LeSeb(e) ::
which King James Version translates in this way:
“And He needed not that any should testify of man: for He knew what was in man.”
He knows the conscience of man (that is another meaning of Ge’ez, like the word used for the language) and no one shall educate HIM in this respect. By this statement, the ethiopian scholar is attributing to His Majesty the same supreme wisdom of Christ.

ጥምቀት – Baptism

This artistic work of Selam Semrete Selassie meditates the shape and meanings of the 4 letters of the word Timqet ጥምቀት Baptism, through which we can pictographically visualize its traditional iconography.
Tiet ጥ represents the change and fracture determined by the sacrament of rebirth: it is here associated to the suddenly apparition of the Father from heaven.
Miem ም represents the substance coming over the body, that is both the Holy Spirit (Menfes) and the Water (May); here is the dove descending upon the head of Christ.
Qof ቀ represents the hit of that holy substance upon the head of the baptized one, and his unction.
Taw ት is associated with Krstos and the body of the baptized one that receives the sacrament.

“For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent. From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.”

Meaning of “Ge’ez” ግእዝ

Ge’ez ግእዝ (or ግዕዝ) G(e)(e)z means 4 things:

1) First. In fact, the first vowel is called “Ge’ez“, like a first language, i.e. the language that God used to create the world and to speak with Adam in the beginning. It is the Language of Time (“Gizie”), the most ancient one, eternally existing through the ages.

Ge’ez” order is also consider the natural and simple state of a letter. It means that Ge’ez is the original natural Pure Language, coming from the mouth of the Creator, that created us through these same names, without any human superstructure.

Ge’ez is also the first style of traditional chant, together with “Ezil” and “Araray“, and represents the Father.

2) Free. For it is the tongue of the always free Ethiopian people (“Agezan”), and it is free from Babilon pollution, confusion and curse. Tongue of the Lord (“Egzie”) in full sovereignty and power over Creation.

We say that Christ liberated Adam: “Ageezo le Adam“, as He also taught him to speak in the beginning, and loose his tongue and mind.

3) Conscience or Spiritual Essence. For we have been created through this language, 22 basic chromosoms like 22 basic letters, our DNA is written in this code, and our soul naturally speaks Ge’ez (Voice of Coscience), and recognizes it as the pure creational language of its core.

4) Ethiopia herself, as it is traditionally called in the Holy Books “Bhiere Ge’ez“, the Province of Ge’ez.
