Why Learn Ge’ez (Ancient Ethiopic Language) ?

WHY LEARN GE’EZ (Ancient Ethiopic) ?

– Because it is the oldest human language, as old as homo sapiens who comes from Ethiopia. It therefore preserves the words and experiences of our ancestral fathers and allows us to reconnect to the deepest roots of human history.

– Because it is not a human and conventional language, but a divine and natural one, with which God created all things in the beginning and which he taught to Adam. The words of Ge’ez are onomatopoeic and pictographic evocations of real things, and through them we can acquire wonderful logical and natural knowledge.

– Because the Ge’ez Bible is the oldest and most complete text available to us, and by studying that it is possible to remove all the veils of mystification and manipulation that have been placed over it by Romanized Judaism and Christianity.

– Because it is built according to a gematric and kabbalistic system that is much more orderly and coherent than the commonly known Jewish one: it is the code that allows us to interpret and decipher created reality, and the “genome” of God that enables us to know its Mind and Essence.

– Because it is in itself a humanly inexplicable prophetic miracle, which gives solidity and strength to the student’s faith and nourishes his spiritual life with conviction.

– Because it is the original language of God, and the privileged communication channel to invoke Him and adore Him, and also to interact with the forces of nature that were created according to its arcana.

A Short Biography of Hapte Selassie Tafesse

A Biography written and printed by SEED (Society of Ethiopians Established in Diaspora) in 2013.

“HAPTE-SELASSIE TAFESSE

Lij Hapte-Selassie Tafesse was born in the 1930 in Addis Ababa. Because of the Italian attempt of colonization in Ethiopia, Hapte-Selassie’s father left Ethiopia and fled to France and Hapte Selassie had to be separated from his family when he was only two years old, and was taken to Greece by a refugee Russian family. In Greece, he completed his elementary and pursued secondary education at Athens college. In 1947, Lij Hapte-Selassie came back to Ethiopia and rejoined with his family. Able to speak only Greek and Russian, he attended Teferi Mekonnen School for a year mainly to learn Amharic language.

After Italy left Ethiopia, Hapte-Selassie’s father became Ethiopia’s ambassador to Egypt which gave Hapte-Selassie an opportunity to travel to Alexandria and reunite with his father. There he attended Victoria College in 1950, where he also learnt French. In 1954, however, Hapte-Selassie left for the United States and entered Carlton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and graduated with B.A. degree in International Relations and Government.

The then Emperor of Ethiopia, His Majesty Haile Selassie I, considering Hapte-Selassie’s gift of language, offered him a job as Assistant Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Hapte-Selassie reached the limit of what can be done within his Department and he proposed that a special organ be set up to handle the little developed sector of tourism.

Soon he was transferred from the ministry of foreign affairs to an office under the prime minister’s office with no budget and staff to start his new assignment of establishing and running Ethiopian Tourist & Trading Organization. However, ETTO was formally decreed and with Hapte-Selassie’s sole effort, minimal budget was secured, appropriate office acquired and the necessary staff hired. Consequently, Hapte-Selassie was charged with inventing and organizing all aspects of the tourism industry in Ethiopia from the scratch.

In an effort to raise funds for the sector, Hapte-Selassie then introduced Duty Free Shops and with a personal borrowed money of 25,000 USD he went to Aden for shopping. Luck was with Hapte-Selassie, and all items were sold instantly and within short period of time the Duty Free Shop expanded and became one of the world’s leading duty free businesses and the international weekly magazine – Newsweek, featured it in a full page article as one of the world’s largest duty free enterprises.

Lij Hapte-Selassie’s innovative work continued in introducing the modern concept of tourism to Ethiopia and for creating an image of the country under the slogan ‘Land of 13 Months of Sunshine’. Similarly, he created operational mechanism, services, practices and institutions in the tourism industry such as Ethiopian Tourism Trading Corporation (ETTC), Tour and Travel Operation which created the present pioneer state owned (just privatized recently) tour operator, the present National Tour Operator (NTO), the first tourist class and tourist oriented hotels, the Catering and Tourist Training Institution (CTTI), and many more.

Not only this but Hapte-Selassie produced a range of international standard tourist literature covering all parts of all aspects of the country from taking pictures for posters, to organizing tours operated personally by himself.

In association with Ethiopian Airlines and Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce, Lij Hapte-Selassie took part and played significant role in many national expos and exhibitions held in Addis Ababa, Asmara, Jimma, and elsewhere. Working as travel consultant, Lij Hapte-Selassie took part in the constant modernization and expansion of Ethiopian Airlines. He was also part of the inception and subsequently a member of the organizing commitee for the establishment of both ECA (Economic Commission of Africa) and OAU (Organization of African Unity, the present African Union, AU) in Addis Ababa.

Moreover, he also took Ethiopia and Ethiopian products to international expos in Canada (1967), Japan (1970), and Nairobi (1972) where he conceptualized, designed, constructed ideas and even financed expenses.

Working under the then Ethiopian Tourism Commission, he also played a role in the organization of the Gold Mercury Trade Fair Center and attended and participated in annual tourist trade fairs and conferences held in major cities around the world, such a Miami, Las Vegas, Tokyo, Sydney, France, Athens, Hong Kong, Spain, and others.

Working all this for his country however, Lij Hapte-Selassie was imprisoned in 1974 on 50 false criticisms and was released in 1982 only to continue the job he started.

Lij Hapte-Selassie started tourism industry when tourism was perceived by people as selling the country’s pride and name, and when there were no adequate tourist class hotels and service providers. With the massive improvements of infrastructure, roads, airports, hotels, resorts, communications in the country, which are very encouraging for the development of the industry, Lij Hapte Selassie, now age 81, wonders why tourism in Ethiopia hasn’t achieved at least one million tourists every year.

And that’s the reason why he doesn’t rest from immerging new innovative ideas, even in his pension. And this great man has plenty projects in mind to bring up his country’s reputation, and most recently he started designing quality neckties and scarves with features the country’s beauty paintings and alphabet to promote Ethiopian art in international level.

He is also trying to make Ethiopia host coffee carnival as a country which introduced coffee to the rest of the world which also will generate many tourist numbers.

This never resting man has the hobby of travelling, photographing, playing tennis and swimming and have been awarded on several occasions with medals, decorations, certificates from both past and present Ethiopian governments, and foreign governments for personal service, merit, and participation in major events.

In February 2011, Lij Hapte-Selassie is recognized as ‘the Father of Ethiopian Tourism’ by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Ministry of Culture and Tourism. True, Lij Hapte-Selassie will always be remembered and respected by generations for his invaluable contributions to where the Ethiopian tourism sector is today.”

The First Element Created – Fire እሳት

Ethiopian Tradition, especially in certain ge’ez books like Sene Fetret and Aximaros, explain us that in the beginning, Egziabhier created before any other thing the 4 elements, by which He would constitute the substance of all His creatures. The are likened to the 4 directions and the first four letters of Ge’ez Alphabet, composing the word “A-BU-GI-DA”. The A-B-C-D we could say, the basic compass of Creation.
Hold on the Torch of Wisdom, His Majesty speaks about. The first creational element, for God as for man, is Fire, what we call in Holy Language (E)ssat እሳት. To create and produce anything, we firstly need a Fire to warm and protect, to cook food as to alterate, mould and manipulate matter. Similarly, the fire of the Sun is the primary energetic source of our life, and that’s why it was worshiped in ancient paganism. In Nyabinghi ritual, we call the central holy fire Fyah-Key, to express that same mystery.
The primacy of fire is manifested by the first letter of its word, that is an Alief እ (E), the first letter of Abughida Alphabeth, whose meaning is 1, and representing the I of God, and the same human image that was shaped in His Likeness. Jah revealed Himself in flames of fire into the eyes of Moses (Exodus 3) and within the fire we can sight the image of God and man. The fire represents the predominant power of the Coscience of God that thought and created all things. That’s why humans are called B(e)(e)si/B(e)(e)sit ብእሲ/ብእሲት Man/Woman from the same root of (E)ssat እሳት, for among the earthly creatures, humans are the only one to have a conscious spirit made of fire, in the image of God.
The second letter of the word is Son ሳ “Sa”, depicted like a candle, meaning physical sound of exalation of fire, its gas-like untangible nature, the burning incense of the temple to glorify God.
The third and last letter of the word is Taw ት “T”, depicted like a cross, meaning the burned wooden substance and its passivity, and spelling the natural crackle of fire.
The ge’ez number for 1 ፩ is basically a flame of fire, geometrically conceived as the idea of center.
The abode of God, the seventh heaven, the so-called Aryam, is made of Fire. Together with “Wind”, it is the main element of the heavenly things, including angels and human spirits. That’s why both Fire and Wind naturally go upward.
Fire is untangible like wind, but differently from wind, it is also visible. So, being untangible but visible, it also reveals its unique power of mediation between the worlds as between the elements. Similarly, it produces carbonized black substance while generating light.
Fire is generally associated to color red/black, that is also the first color, the beginning of the natural spectrum of light.
As it was in the beginning, so shall it be in the end, so everything comes to being from fire, and everything shall be destroyed in the end by a judgement of fire.

Ethiopian I-tal Food

Injera እንጀራ

Injera እንጀራ is a kind of “crepe” of teff flour, a particular Ethiopian cereal with high leavening power. Various traditional condiments are placed on this crepe, which are eaten with hands, using injera as support, like bread.
Injera is a very ancient food, which is said to be the meal of the biblical prophets and the patriarchs of Israel. In Our Father’s prayer, in Ethiopian Amharic language, instead of “give us our daily bread” it is said “give us our daily injera” (“Yelet Injeracchinin Sitten Zarie”). It is the most basic element of the Ethiopian food.
Injera’s idea, as an edible circular support for condiments, is the African arketype of Italian pizza. Teff is a gluten-free grain, which guarantees a very healthy fermentation and easy digestion.

Jah Mother Tongue is Ethiopian

It is surely true that “however old the version may be, in whatever language it may be written, the Word remains one and the same. It transcends all boundaries of empires and all conceptions of race. It is eternal.” His Majesty has taught about the power of the Word of God to communicate its spiritual message of salvation beyond any human or historical corruption or falsification. In this perspective, we can use and read any possible version or language of the Bible and find truth for ourselves.
Yet, the King also told us that “the Holy Book should not be cut into portions“, and we have to obey the totality of the precepts – not only one – and watch both sides of each question.
In 1936, from the rostrum of Geneva, before the League of Nations, His Majesty said in french, his first teaching to the rebellious nations:
“Je prie l’Assemblée de M’excuser si Je ne M’exprime pas in français comme Je l’aurais voulu. “
“I pray the Assembly to forgive Me, If I do not express myself in french, as I would like.”
And after:
“Je dirai mieux toute Ma pensée, avec toute la force de Mon esprit et de Mon coeur, en parlant en langue amharique.”
“I would say better my thought, by all the strength of my spirit and heart, speaking in amharic language.”
When He speaks foreign languages, the power of His expression is not full. He speaks the fullness through ethiopian language only. Foreign translation is just a replica of the arketype. On that occasion, He spoke unto all of the Nations in Amharic, even if many of them did not know Amharic language. And He did the same on all the official occasions of his political ministry, as the imperial protocol prescibed to always express first the fullness of the ethiopian dignity in mother tongue, and then to allow a foreign translation.
In the Amharic version of His Majesty’s speech we find the original Tongue of that Word, for His Majesty has originally conceived that thought in Amharic, before speaking in french. And this version is naturally different and more precise than the french one:
ነገር ግን አሳቤን በመንፈሴ ኃይል ሁሉ ከልቤ ለመናገር የሚቻለኝ በአማርኛ ቋንቋ ስለሆነ
Neger Gen Asabien BeMenfesiè Hayl Hulu KeLebiè LeMennager Yemitchallegn Bamarigna Qwanqwa Selehone
“But it is in Amharic language that I am able to speak my thought from my heart with all the power of my spirit.”
But / Neger Gen
it is / Selehone
in Amharic language / BeAmarigna Qwanqwa
that I am able / Yemitchallegn
to speak / LeMennager
my thought / Asabien
from my heart / Kelebiè
with all the power of my spirit / BeMenfesiè Hayl Hullu
Therefore, it is true that we can get biblical spiritual wisdom from any version, nevertheless we need Ethiopian original version and mother tongue, as God has originally thought that word in that tongue, to acquire BIBLICAL SCIENCE and precise full overstanding of its expression. When we have the original and we follow the natural order of manifestation, then we can fully apprecilove and understand even the copy, that can extend our imagination and develop the original insight.
As the King said:
“I would tell a person who was considering the claim of Christ for the first time that it is necessary to have faith in the Almighty, that it is necessary to have love, and that it is necessary to conduct oneself in a manner that we have been taught to do in the Bible. I would also advise him to seek the secular knowledge, for the more one knows the more he realises…”
After the universal necessity to obey the Bible and its fundamental spiritual common meanings, then He advised to acquire knowledge of world and humanity in this time, hence of human languages and historical translations of the Bible, to perfect our spiritual realization. In english we call it Bible like Babel, so we know there’s some linguistic confusion we must purify.
We should follow the divine advice. Too many times the merciful words of His Majesty are quoted to justify ignorance. Let them listen with both their 2 ears and take heed.
Both Bob Marley and Vaughn Benjamin ended to identify with an Ethiopian Name. The prophecy says that we shall speak only one Ethiopian Language at the end, as it was in the beginning before Babylon Tower:
“For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent. From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.”  (Zephaniah 3,9-10)
And among the Constitutional Laws of the Kingdom of God, we have:
“The official language of the Empire is Amharic” (Art. 125)
Then we will study that language, we will speak that language and will have our own biblical translations from that original language, better than King James’ and Roman Popes. This is a truly royal thing and a fulfillment of His Majesty’s example.

Ethiopia in the Bible

The Paradise of Adam

Ethiopia is the first country – still recognizable by its biblical name on our atlases – mentioned in the Bible, and this quotation occurs in its very first pages, those that describe the creation of the world and man, the origin of everything, the GENESIS.
In Genesis (chapter 2, 10-13), describing Paradise (“Gennete Edom” ገነተ ኤዶም, “Garden of Eden”, in Ge’ez), the prophet states: “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.. “
According to Genesis itself, chapter 10, Avila is nothing more than a daughter of Ethiopia, and therefore a region contiguous to Her and under Her.
It is also written in Genesis 2,8: “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” Scripture is therefore describing the Oriental Africa, the Nile Valley in its two main ramifications (White Nile and Blue Nile) as the original heart of the First Earthly Kingdom, where God has placed the progenitors of the entire human race, Adam and Hewan, and the primeval home of mankind.
About this mystery, His Imperial Majesty said to Oriana Fallaci: “Ethiopia has existed for 3,000 years. In fact, it exists ever since man first appeared on earth.”
This is scientifically confirmed by all the archaeological and paleontological studies, which lead back to Ethiopia both the first hominid (Lucy, the Australopitecus Afarensis, called in this way as it was found in Afar, an Ethiopian region) and the oldest homo sapiens (from, coincidentally, the OMO Valley, in Ethiopia). Recent studies have also shown that Ethiopia contains all the genetic heritage of humanity and is therefore its natural historical origin. Both evolutionists and creationists must acknowledge Ethiopia as its GENESIS. Check the following pictures, with a scientific article about this, from an italian major newspaper, “La Repubblica”.
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground” (Genesis 2: 7). This passage indicates how the very essence of man, of every man who originated from Adam, is drawn from the land of Edom which is his same name, that is Ethiopia. We thus speak of the “Ethiopianess” of human nature, as a universal and basic racial concept for the knowledge of ourselves as one human race. This is why the prophet Jeremiah states:
“Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots?” (Jeremiah 13:23)
Thus admitting that the Ethiopian skin is natural for the human species, as well as the spots for the leopard, and that it is an essential and eternal trait of man, way higher than the absolutely changing and relative concept of pigmentation and complexion.
“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: (Genesis 3, 19). From which soil was man taken, to which one he will necessarily have to return? Repatriation to Ethiopia sounds as inescapable and inevitable as death itself, in which we will be brought back to the black womb of the earth, since we come to light from the black womb of our mother. It is the much celebrated “Return to Earth” of these last times, as well as the necessary return to the black root that we visualize every day into our black sleep.
From the Christological point of view, this implies that Christ Himself, in his character as the Universal Father, Perfect Man and substitute of Adam for the purification of humanity from the sin committed, must be Ethiopian, in all respects equivalent to Adam:
“For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. (…) The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. (…) And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
(I Corinthians 15)
In fact, in the beginning Adam was created in the same image of God. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him” (Genesis 1, 27). Differently from western theology, Ethiopian theology teaches that even invisible spirits can have an image (Araya አርአያ), and Egziabhier got an Image, and on that Image Adam was created. In the first chapter of the Ethiopian Book of Mystery of Ghiorghis of Gasecha, this holy doctor shows how God biblically has hands, ears, feet, face, arms, and Adam was created in this likeness, both in his spirit and his body.
If Christ is “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature” (Colossians 1,15) therefore He must have the same exact image of Adam the Ethiopian, created in the likeness of an Ethiopian God.
Therefore, in view of the incarnation of the only Person of the Son in Christ, Jah said: “Behold, man has become like One of Us”. (Genesis 3, 22)

Ge'ez ግእዝ Mysteries

Meaning of “Ge’ez” ግእዝ

Ge’ez ግእዝ (or ግዕዝ) G(e)(e)z means 4 things:

1) First. In fact, the first vowel is called “Ge’ez“, like a first language, i.e. the language that God used to create the world and to speak with Adam in the beginning. It is the Language of Time (“Gizie”), the most ancient one, eternally existing through the ages.

Ge’ez” order is also consider the natural and simple state of a letter. It means that Ge’ez is the original natural Pure Language, coming from the mouth of the Creator, that created us through these same names, without any human superstructure.

Ge’ez is also the first style of traditional chant, together with “Ezil” and “Araray“, and represents the Father.

2) Free. For it is the tongue of the always free Ethiopian people (“Agezan”), and it is free from Babilon pollution, confusion and curse. Tongue of the Lord (“Egzie”) in full sovereignty and power over Creation.

We say that Christ liberated Adam: “Ageezo le Adam“, as He also taught him to speak in the beginning, and loose his tongue and mind.

3) Conscience or Spiritual Essence. For we have been created through this language, 22 basic chromosoms like 22 basic letters, our DNA is written in this code, and our soul naturally speaks Ge’ez (Voice of Coscience), and recognizes it as the pure creational language of its core.

4) Ethiopia herself, as it is traditionally called in the Holy Books “Bhiere Ge’ez“, the Province of Ge’ez.
